WSOBP IV Recap

We apologize for not updating socalbeerpong.com with results from each day of the World Series. There was just too much going on.

We must first congratulate Smashing Time. They went 24-0 in the prelims of WSOBP II and III combined, but ended up with disappointing top 10 finishes. They weren't as dominant in days 1 and 2 as previous years, but handled business in day 3 to finally take down the title of WSOBP Champion. Congrats also goes out to 2nd place finishers Getcha Popcorn Ready who won 28 games on the week, including their impressive win in the East-West Showdown on New Year's Day. Their only two losses for the week were to Smashing Time in the winner's bracket final, and the overall tournament championship final.

SCBP got off to a strong start in the preliminary rounds, with 9 teams of the top 32 teams receiving automatic byes into the final 64 team tournament (Lodge West, Wet Bandits, Chauffeuring The Fat Kid, Team America, Alex & Brent, 50%, Hey There Sasquitch, G'd Up, and Hybrid Rice). Numerous others made day 3 needing to win single elimination games to reach the final tournament. Combined with teams paired up against one another, and other teams not playing well enough to advance, SCBP fizzled under the spotlights. We'll be proud to add a stars to the flag with quite a few top 25 finishes, but no teams in the top 5 this year should be fuel to the fire. Congrats to our sole top 10 finishers, 50%.

As usual, we had a lot of fun, and are already looking forward to next year. We will soon have each team's record posted, with final results.
