East Feast

The night before World Series of Beer Pong III commenced, 32 teams from the West coast gathered at Tight Rack to take on 32 teams from the East Coast. Each first round game pitted one West team versus one East team. After that it was every team on it's own gunning for the $1,000 prize.

All it took was one round to see that the West Coast was getting their lunch handed to them. The East won 23 out of 32 first round games (almost 75%), and the rout was on. Seventy-five percent was the benchmark from that point on, as the East had 12/16 teams in round three, 6/8 in round four, and 3/4 in round five. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), the West's last two teams standing had to play one another in the quarterfinal round, with Wet Bandits prevailing over Pure Filth. New Jersey's Our Balls... Your Cup, and Michigan's Just Two Guys and Pandemonium 2008 filled out the final four. Once the Bandits were knocked out (by Two Guys), the West Coast crowd was forced to start looking forward to the World Series, and redeeming any sense of pride left. Everyone else had the final match to watch. In a display of one team catching fire, and another team going completely cold, Our Balls... Your Cup overwhelmed Just Two Guys in the final, winning by 8 cups.

Props goes out to New Jersey for taking home the only place that counted along with the second highest wins/team ratio at 2. Michigan (2.25) represented themselves well, with two of four teams in the final four, and each of the other two teams notching first round wins. New York (1.8), North Carolina (1.5), and Massachusettes (1.5) also had good wins/team ratios. Here are the tournament's Final Standings.
