Turkey Bowl Results

SCBP regulars and contenders alike came out for the 2009 Turkey Bowl (remind me to schedule a tournament on any future midweek day where everyone has the next day off). Of the regulars, there were a number of strong teams: the recently dominant Mexicali, the Tuesday Night Dynamos - Hey There Sasquitch, and the ambiguously gay duo - XOXO Gossip Girl. A couple of new teammate combos hidden by clever names were also strong, RJ/Fat Kid of You Can Clench All You Want- But It's Going In and Peter/Kirby of Vaginal Hubris.

Despite being a game that everyone plays, experience at tournament play usually is necessary to make a deep run. Some new teams had impressive showings. Put Your Speedos On - Cause You're About To Get Wet had the best day, making their way to the winner's bracket final before losing twice. SCBP could use more competitive coed teams, and UCLA Blows proved to be a tough matchup as they won 4 straight in the losers bracket. Who Is Your Daddy- And What Does He Do? made a nice run as well, on top of having an awesome team name.

In the end though, the experience was too much to overcome. Mike and Gary of Gossip Girl lost to Mexicali in the winners bracket, but won 3 in a row to get back to the finals, against who other than Mexicali. After outlasting last call, it probably came down to Mexicali not being able to shake off the rust of having to wait for the losers bracket to end, as Gossip Girl won both games, the codes, but still has prop 8 to foil their long term goals.
