Stephanino? Fuhgetabouddit.
At the last Stingers tournament, IE people came out of the woodwork, including a new contingent of players that had formed the IEBP. Some of the personnel has changed, but they of course repped again, with teams IE MVPs, DGK Underdogs, On The House, and half of Mike Juan Pierre. SCBP stalwarts The Cocksmen split up, but gave tribute to each other with their teamnames. Kendon picked up Grady as You Can't Spell Grady Without Gary, while Stefon bribed Gary to come out as Kendon Pees Sitting Down (hope there is pictorial evidence). Those two teams showed their prowess, meeting in the winner's final.
War Pigs started an epic day with a rough draw, losing to youtube sensation Mike Juan Pierre. They beat everyone else they faced, winning 4 straight before facing them again with the same result. The MVPs had a similar problem, losing to Kendon/Grady early, beating 5 straight teams, then losing to the SCBP Centerfolds. Mike Juan took down two housemates to get back to the finals, but choked on redemption, giving the title to Gary and Stephan.
When Stephon first moved out to California from New Jersey earlier this year, he couldn't wait to work his way into the group of SCBP regulars. He can not be more easy going, especially coming from the East Coast [not to stereotype or course, but the impression from past World Series has been that of in your face bravado]. Now it's just hard for me to not think of the old commercials with the plumber... "Jack Stephanski? Jack Stephanino? Jack Stephonovic? It's Stephan. Jaaack Stephan." [video] The confusion here though isn't about how to pronounce his name, it's the spelling. I've seen all the ways above. Just to clear the air, it's Stephen.

The side tournament dragged on thanks to We'll Beat You Like Chris Brown (aka War Pigs). They rolled through the loser's bracket, at a snails pace thanks to a painful-to-watch between-shot routine: talk to spectators, get ball, approach table, get distracted, step away, drink beer, talk to spectators, stumble, repeat. Sammy had picked up a self-proclaimed pervert (townie playing pong for the first time), not expecting to win, but rattled off 4 straight wins to make it to the final via the winners bracket. Perfect Ten lost to Sammy & Les, ended Chris Brown's day, then beat Sammy & Les twice for the win.
