August 9th Mixed Doubles Tournament Recap
We want to thank the 31 teams that came out for SCBP's first ever Mixed Doubles Tournament. The format seemed to be a big hit with everyone involved, so you can expect to see more co-ed SCBP tournaments in the future. But ladies, remember that you don't have to wait until then to get your pong on... co-ed and girl teams will be half price in our upcoming WSOBP satellite tournaments.

Bryan and Jess of the Super Vlads
As for the results, it wasn't easy, but the Super Vlads showed why they are one of Southern California's powerhouse beer pong couples. Hats went flying after a first game loss, but Bryan and Jess eventually settled in and rattled off 10 straight wins to take home the $300 grand prize. This was the first time in SCBP history that a team dropped it's first game and came back to win the tournament. In the final game of the tournament, the improbable comeback looked as if it was going to come up short when Danny (Chocolate Heat Transfer) hit the last cup, leaving the Super Vlads 3 cups to hit for OT. Needless to say that Bryan and Jess pulled it off and eventually sealed the deal in OT. A fitting end to a great comeback.
There was good play all around, especially from some of the ladies. Rusty Trombone (3rd place) seemed to be the only team that could slow their friends, Bad Baby, down. Bad Baby won 6 straight in the loser's bracket to finish in 4th.
A special shout out to Laura of Smokey and the Underhanded. Who would have thought an underhand shot could work?!?!? You've made believers out of us.
