June 21st San Diego Recap

On Saturday, the final four teams left in the winner's bracket were very similar to those left in the final four to the May 17th tournament. Don't Pee In the Fish Tank, Pure Filth, and Nucking Futs were all repeats. Team Radical, who also played well in May, finished out the last four.

June 21st Champs - Pure Filth

In the loser's bracket, teams that lost games early were having a field day over the teams dropping down from the winner's bracket. Cobra Kai lost their second game, but then rattled off 7 straight wins, falling just a few games short. Red Trolley dropped in their first game, then won 6 straight. White Rice won 5 straight, including a Temecula bragging rights game against Team Beirut. 2 EZ U Beezy lost their first game, then won 4 straight games. Chauffeuring the Fat Kid dropped to Pure Filth in round #3, then won 4 straight to make it to the Loser's bracket semi-finals, where they dropped to Don't Pee (all a repeat of what happened in May). The casualties of all these streaks were the teams dropping down from the winner's bracket. Twelve teams won two or more games in the winner's bracket, then lost their first game on the loser's side.

In the finals, Pure Filth took down Don't Pee to face Nucking Futs, who beat Team Radical. Don't Pee In The Fish Tank dropped down to face Chauffeuring the Fat Kid, who they came back to beat in a dramatic two overtimes. They then beat Cobra Kai as they looked to repeat the course they took in winning on May 17th. They stalled against Nucking Futs, who got their rematch against Pure Filth. In game #1, Pure Filth hit the first four cups quickly, but had two still on the table when Futs hit the last cup. Dustin hit one, then Brent backed it up, forcing overtime where they then won the game, and the trip to the World Series of Beer Pong.
