About Us
Both Peter and I grew up in southern California (Peter in LA, me in SD), but didn’t play Beirut/Beer Pong until going back east for college. It was the perfect social game… a team drinking game that promoted competition and skill. Everyone played with different rules, but the basics were there… put the ball in the cup.
When I graduated, I assumed my Beirut days were behind me. I still played the occasional game with friends, but it wasn’t until Peter found out about the World Series of Beer Pong that we started taking it to the next level… practicing. We played with the same 6 friends every week and had no idea how good we were, but our four teams headed off to Mesquite, NV to test our luck. Turns out we’re not that bad. Out of 250+ teams, we had two (Wet Bandits and Lodge West) of the top 15 within our little group. Plus we met a number of other really good teams from Southern California while we were there.
The other thing that we discovered in Nevada was how organized some of the other parts of the country were. Maryland and New York had beer pong leagues/tournaments that drew 50+ teams a week. We decided it was time for Southern California to step it up. We have the talent (5 of the top 15 teams were from California), now we just need the organization. That’s where Southern California Beer Pong (SCBP) comes into play.
Peter and I created this website to provide southern California beer pong players a place to meet, discuss beer pong, and find out what's going on in the area. We’re here to promote the game and we’re going to try and do our part by sponsoring monthly tournaments all across southern California. We have bigger plans for SCBP (leagues, better website, merchandise, etc), but for now we’re happy meeting more people who just like to play.
Hope to see you all at our next tournament.
Regards,
Tyler
