Week 7 and Regular Season Results
Week 7 wrapped up the regular season of the SCBP LA Summer League. While the top 6 teams were mostly decided prior to week 7, the order of those spots could change drastically based on the outcome of the week's games. Team Kobe looked to make up games to reclaim the top spot. The Wet Bandits looked to battle with Team Kobe, all while fending off G'd Up and the Balding Assassins, who lurked closely behind. Mad Crazy Skillz needed a fantastic week to move higher than fifth. A lot of these teams got to play one another, adding to the pressure. In reporting the results of week 7, congratulations are in order to our regular season champion...
That's right. We had a tie at the top. Every single point mattered, and these two teams ended up dead even after 63 games. The Bandits ended up beating Kobe 2 games to 1, giving them a slight edge they needed to end the season tied. Kobe played a rough week 7 schedule, with all 6 series being against the top 8 teams. They did what they needed to do to stay on top, as they pulled out three straight OT games against Mad Crazy Skillz, and two OT games against G'd Up (with one of those being a heart breaking three overtimes long). They also pulled off an impressive 4 doubleback game in game 1 against Team Beirut, only to follow it up in game 3 with the almost impossible 5 doublebacks!
Below our co-champs we had even another tie, as G'd Up and Balding Assassins get a chop of the bronze medal, with Mad Crazy Skillz in sole possession of 5th place, and Team Beirut playing a solid week to claim the sixth spot. On the short end of the stick was Off in the Woods who played to a solid 6-3, 9 point showing in week 7 with yet another stand-in partner, but ended up just out of the money spots. Congrats and a big thanks to everyone for a well played season, and what should be an exciting championship tournament in week 8.
