LA Summer League - Week 5
Updated 08/06/2007
Week 5 of SCBP's Los Angeles Summer League saw a little movement atop both the league and individual standings. With Mad Crazy Skillz out of town, the Balding Assasins, G'd Up, and Wet Bandits all took the opportunity to leapfrog Skillz in the overall standings (even if only temporarily). As always, there were a few notable games that were played.
The week 5 award for most efficient (and impressive) game easily goes out to Team Beirut and their performance against the Beer Pong Gods. Beirut made 10 of 12 shots (83%) in two turns as they took down the Gods, who only took 5 shots in the game. Meanwhile, the week 5 award for least efficient game easily goes to the rubber match between T.W.L.B. and Priceless Hill. Props goes out to these teams for having fun. Neither team played poorly, but word on the street is that half jager pong and half beer pong just causes games to take longer.
Week 5 saw a flurry of 2-2 series, as G'd Up stole a point from both Off in the Woods and the Wet Bandits and T.W.L.B. stole a point from both Whiskey Rebellion and Priceless Hill. Later on, Team Kobe stole one of those extra points back from G'd Up. Stats again support the notion that should a team get 3 double backs in a game, they will most likely win. Eight of ten teams won such games this week, with condolences to G'd Up and the BP Gods who came up on the short end of the stick.

Of personal accomplishments, Kevin of the Whiskey Rebellion made the biggest move in week 5, increasing his overall shooting percentage by 4.1% to 35.6% (might be proof enough that a 'bounce some, shoot some' game plan is legit). Off in the Woods substitute Fred did not waste any time, shooting well enough to be runner-up for the week at 45.9%.
Players who eclipsed the 60% "notable game" mark for one or more games in week 5 were: Fred, Bryan, Peter, Scott, Jeremy, Felipe, Jessica, Jen, Kevin, Tarek, and Dan.
