Motagagne stormed out of the loser's bracket, hitting double backs in their first 3 turns, winning the first of two matches in the final match versus Team Kobe. Then Kobe took over, with Bryan seemingly missing none of his shots in the second game. Congrats to both of these teams, and many more for a well played tournament.

Bryan and Felipe of Team Kobe

Unlike the recent past, success in previous SCBP tournaments did not guarantee a team would do well. Don't Pee In The Fish Tank, our June 2nd champs, fell in their first game to the Lone Rangers. Chauffeuring the Fat Kid, who has not won a tournament, but has not finished below 3rd in four tries, came out slow and lost their first game to Bill 'N Budz Buckets. G'd Up, SCBP's Los Angeles Summer League Champs, also got sent to the loser's bracket early with a loss to Sunken City. It was an abnormal start, which should have been expected being so close to Halloween.

A lot of new teams showed up to the Good Hurt, and SCBP's talent pool seems to be growing. Of the top 8 teams in the winner's bracket, five consisted of completely new teams to SCBP. Three of those five teams were in the top four. Experience though, proved valuable once in the loser's bracket. F*ck the East Coast and G'd Up both won three straight prior to meeting in the 4th round, with G'd Up winning multiple games in OT. Big Ten, Hickspanics, and Vandelay Industries also each won three straight in the loser's bracket. Chauffeuring the Fat Kid tried to make a run, as they won 4 straight. But they ran into the story of the day, Motagagne. After losing their 2nd game to eventual 5th place finishers, Cobras, Motagagne strung together 8 straight wins in the loser's bracket, including wins over 3rd place finishers Bill 'N Budz, 4th place finishers Heiserkotte, and getting revenge for their early loss by sending home the Cobras. They then met perennial powerhouse Team Kobe in the finals, and steamrolled through the first game, hitting double backs in their first three turns. But the advantage from the winner's bracket side is having to win one of two games, and Kobe pulled out the second game. More content for the tournament can be found on the results page.
